The CM10.2 custom ROM, based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, is now available for the AT&T variant of the HTC One. Here is how to install it.

The CyanogenMod, or CM, 10.2 custom ROM based on the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware was recently released for the HTC (TPE:2498) One.

And, although the official firmware update for the smartphone is still quite some time away, users of the handset can now update their device to the latest Android version by installing the custom firmware build.

The CM10.2 is a customized, aftermarket firmware build based on the Android Open Source Project. The firmware is designed to enhance the performance of the official Android ROMs, which are released by smartphone vendors and carriers.

Users should note that being an unofficial version, the CM10.2 requires a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod installed in the handset in order to flash the ROM zip file. Users should also keep in mind that the bootloader of the HTC One must be unlocked to install the custom ROM.

Here’s a tutorial on how to install CM10.2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean custom ROM on the HTC One. But before going ahead, there are certain important aspects to be aware of:

- As CM10.2 is a nightly build, users may encounter some bugs. However, reinstalling an official stock firmware can help fix these issues.

- Users must have proper backups of their data, saved in the device.

- The device should be fully charged.

- The USB Driver for the HTC One, which will be used in the installation procedure, must be installed on the computer.

- Users should ensure that USB Debugging is enabled on the phone.

- The handset must be rooted and have a custom recovery installed.

- The installation process, explained here, is meant for the AT&T HTC One only. Users should not try this in any other variants of the phone.

- Users should make sure that Android Debug Bridge and Fastboot is configured on the computer.

Note: International Business Times cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong. Users should proceed at their own risk.
